McDonald Mariga, the Jubilee Party's candidate for the Kibra by-election, has been disqualified from the race.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Mariga's name was not found in the 2017 voters' register, which led to his disqualification.
Mariga had visited the IEBC's offices in Nairobi on Tuesday to present his nomination certificate and undergo a scrutiny process, but he was not cleared.
Mariga was announced as the Jubilee Party's candidate for the Kibra by-election on September 2nd after scoring 500 out of 600 marks in an interview with six panelists.
The Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of former MP Ken Okoth, who passed away on July 26th after succumbing to colorectal cancer while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Mariga's disqualification has left the Jubilee Party with a new challenge in the upcoming by-election, which is set to take place on November 7th.
