On September 10, 2019, Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K) found itself in a confusing situation after a tweet suggested that CMB Prezzo had been unveiled as the party's candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election.
However, in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, Wiper clarified that it will not be fielding any candidate in the by-election.
According to the statement, the party's attention was drawn to reports that Wiper would be fielding Jackson Ngechu Makini, aka CMB Prezzo, as its candidate for the Kibra Constituency by-election. The party stated that the true position is that the WDM-K is not fielding any candidate in the by-election.
Wiper added that it has launched investigations into possible hacking of its Twitter handle.
It is worth noting that the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party had previously stated that Prezzo might be their candidate for the Kibra Parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election.
However, in a video taken during a church service and fundraiser at the Railway Club grounds in Nairobi on Sunday, Kalonzo was heard saying that Wiper would not be fielding a candidate in the Kibra race.
