On Tuesday, Joe Mwangi, the former manager of Wendy Waeni, was released on a Ksh.100,000 cash bail or a Ksh.200,000 bond after denying charges of forging a letter purported to be from Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.
According to reports, Mwangi has been in custody for the past week to allow police to complete investigations into claims that he threatened Wendy's mother, Magdalene Syombua.
He was charged with forging a letter from CS Matiang'i on August 13 and sending it to the complainant, Wendy's mother.
During an interview on Citizen TV's JKL show, Wendy Waeni alleged that she had not received a single penny for her performances over the past five years.
‘I’ve been performing all over the world, and right now I live in Huruma because of Joe Mwangi. I’ve performed in Rwanda, Germany, and China… and I’ve not got even a single penny. My mum is really suffering right now, she sells sweets, I live in Huruma in a single-room with her,’ she said.
However, Mwangi denied the allegations and accused Wendy of ‘reading from a script’.
He also accused Wendy's mother of mismanaging funds they had received from her performance in Rwanda.
Wendy's mother rejected his claims, saying Mwangi only gave her a little money from what he got from prominent individuals to help Wendy.
