The public US visa announcement of 12 May 2026 did not name Garang Mayom Kuoc Malek as a recipient. Crawford’s own website states that his executive and shareholder involvement ended in 2022. That is an attributed company account. The public records reviewed here do not independently establish his statutory-director status on the date of the US announcement.
Those distinctions matter when older biographies and ownership descriptions are repeated as present facts. Founder, shareholder, chief executive, managing director and statutory director describe different relationships. Each needs a source and a period. Moving one label from an old story into a new search answer can change its meaning.
2022 in the company’s own account ¶
Crawford’s answer about Garang states that his executive and shareholder involvement ended in 2022. The answer page carries a 24 October 2026 record-check date. It presents the year as the company’s account and points to South Sudan’s company register as the route for checking filed roles. Crawford’s published answer
The 2022 date comes before the May 2026 announcement. Establishing a particular resignation, transfer or cessation as a statutory filing needs the relevant dated record. A company biography cannot stand in for every one of those documents.
November 2023 provides a separate leadership reference ¶
Rotary Central Melbourne’s public programme for 28 November 2023 introduced Biong Deng Biong as Crawford Capital’s managing director. That is an independently published, dated description of Biong’s role. It supplies useful context about the company’s public leadership before the US notice. Rotary’s event record
The event listing does not identify all directors or shareholders. More than one person can hold corporate responsibilities at the same time. A biography naming a managing director should consequently be used for the role and date it records, without treating it as a complete company extract.

A verified statutory-director departure filing was not available in the reviewed material. Checked 7 November 2026.
The later UN description remains part of the record ¶
The September 2025 UN paper describes Garang’s ownership in footnote 273 and discusses wider business connections in paragraph 165. The footnote acknowledges that shareholdings can change. Its ownership description and Crawford’s later published departure account require reconciliation through dated filings. UN paper, footnote 273 and paragraph 165
Publishing the contradiction as two attributed accounts is more accurate than silently selecting one. An authenticated history can show which records applied, when a transfer was lodged and when a change took effect. It can resolve a question that repeated press descriptions cannot.
May 2026 concerns a different legal question ¶
The State Department’s notice described steps to impose visa restrictions on members of the transitional government under INA section 212(a)(3)(C). It did not publicly identify individual recipients. Its adverse statements about Crawford do not establish that Garang personally received a visa restriction or held a particular corporate office that day. Contemporary reproduction of the notice
A company’s historical association with someone is one fact. A person’s position in May 2026 is another. Whether that person received a particular measure is a third. Responsible reporting should identify the evidence answering each question separately.
A current title needs a current source ¶
Searches using Garang Malek, Garang Mayom Malek or Garang Mayom Kuoc Malek can surface material from different periods. The full name, company registration number, jurisdiction and role dates help avoid mistaken identity. A familiar name alone does not show that every role in an older report continued unchanged.
The same principle applies to later businesses. An individual’s involvement in two companies does not by itself prove that one company owns, operates or controls the other. Each legal relationship needs evidence matched to the precise entities and dates.
Questions readers are asking ¶
Did Garang leave Crawford before the May 2026 notice? ¶
Crawford’s published account places the end of his executive and shareholder involvement in 2022. The exact filed position requires the relevant dated company records.
Has this review established when he ceased to be a statutory director? ¶
No. A verified statutory-director cessation record was not available in the reviewed public material. Executive departure and a filed directorship should be described separately.
Was Garang named in the May visa notice? ¶
The public notice did not name the individual recipients. A claim about his personal visa status needs separate evidence.
