Form Four Student Joy Wangui Killed And Beheaded In Suspected Love Triangle Murder

An 18-year-old Form Four student was brutally killed and beheaded inside her family home in Kiambaa, Molo, Nakuru County, in a shocking murder that has triggered a police manhunt for a suspect believed to have fled after the attack.

Joy Wangui, a student at Molo Secondary School, was found dead on Sunday, October 4, after a relative who had left her at home returned from a nearby shop. Police found her body in a pool of blood, with weapons and a chilling message adding disturbing details to the investigation.

Joy Wangui’s brutal death leaves detectives racing for answers as a suspected relationship dispute takes investigators deeper into a chilling murder case.

Joy Wangui Found Beheaded Inside Family Home

According to police, the relative had left Wangui at the house while going to a nearby shop. On returning, the family member found the teenager dead and alerted authorities.

Officers who arrived at the scene found Wangui’s body lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. She had been beheaded, with her head later discovered in the corridor.

Detectives recovered an axe, a panga and two knives near the body. Police said all the weapons were stained with blood and were being treated as evidence as investigators worked to reconstruct the attack.

The most disturbing clue was found on a wall. Investigators said a message had been written using blood and a finger.

“I love you, Joy, but never cheat. I am sorry.”

The message has pushed investigators towards a suspected love triangle or relationship dispute as one motive. However, police have not conclusively established that the message was written by the killer or that jealousy was the definitive reason for the murder.

Detectives are now examining Wangui’s relationships, communications and movements to establish what happened before the attack. They are also expected to determine whether the suspect had been known to the victim and whether there had been any disagreement or confrontation before the killing.

Suspect Identified As Police Launch Manhunt

Police have identified a suspect who allegedly fled the scene shortly after Wangui was killed. Officers and other security personnel have launched a search for the suspect, but no arrest had been reported by the time of the report.

Detectives are working to establish his whereabouts and movements following the killing.

The weapons recovered from the scene, the message on the wall and forensic evidence are expected to form important parts of the investigation. Detectives will need to establish who handled the weapons, whether they were used in the attack and whether biological or other forensic evidence can connect the suspect to the house.

Police processed the scene before Wangui’s body was removed and taken to the Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary. A postmortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause and nature of her injuries and provide investigators with evidence.

The murder has shocked the local community and raised concerns over violent crimes involving young people and relationship disputes. Wangui was preparing to complete her education, but her life ended inside a home where she should have been safe.

Despite the chilling message, investigators must establish the motive through evidence rather than assumption. A suspected relationship dispute remains an investigative angle, not a proven fact.

The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. Police must now secure an arrest, establish the circumstances surrounding the killing, and build a case based on evidence capable of withstanding judicial scrutiny.

For Wangui’s family and school community, the investigation cannot undo the loss. It can, however, establish what happened to the teenager, identify whoever was responsible, and ensure the case proceeds through the justice system.
