People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader and Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has outlined a 2028 electoral agenda centered on education, tourism, and agriculture, promising free senior secondary education if his party gains power. Speaking during a media engagement in Chuka, Tharaka-Nithi County, Nyoro emphasized that education would be a core priority, citing his constituency’s model of charging Sh500 per term for public day secondary schools as proof that affordable education is achievable. He stated, “We want education to be a priority in Kenya, just like what I have done in Kiharu,” and pledged to extend this approach nationwide, aiming to make senior secondary education free starting January 2028.

Nyoro’s plan includes boosting Kenya’s tourism sector to attract 10 million annual visitors, a target he argued would create jobs and stimulate economic growth. He also highlighted agriculture as a cornerstone of the economy, vowing to enhance farming productivity and support farmers’ livelihoods. “Kenya’s economy is largely agriculture-based, and we must strengthen this sector to ensure sustainable development,” he said. The PPK leader noted the party’s growing influence in Tharaka-Nithi and neighboring Meru County, where candidates are contesting elective positions, signaling its expansion beyond traditional strongholds.

The PPK’s agenda reflects a broader focus on economic development through manufacturing, hospitality, and tourism, with Nyoro framing these sectors as critical for youth employment. He stressed that increased investment in education would open opportunities for young Kenyans, aligning with the party’s vision for inclusive growth. Nyoro also underscored the PPK’s regional strategy, stating the party is building structures and mobilizing members across Kenya to broaden its reach. “We are positioning ourselves as a national party with a clear mandate to lead the country in 2028,” he said, appealing for public support to implement his plans.

The PPK’s proposals come amid ongoing debates about education affordability and economic diversification in Kenya. Nyoro’s emphasis on reducing financial barriers to education and leveraging tourism and agriculture for job creation aligns with broader public concerns about economic equity. However, the party’s ability to translate its vision into policy will depend on its capacity to secure widespread backing and navigate political challenges. Nyoro concluded by urging Kenyans to consider the PPK’s agenda as a pathway to “a more prosperous and equitable future.”
