Kenya is commemorating the 2026 National Customer Service Week (NCSW) from Monday, October 5, under the theme “Extra Mile: Transforming Public Service Through Customer Service Excellence,” with the national slogan “Huduma Bora, Taifa Bora.” Organized by the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, with the Kenya School of Government acting as the Secretariat, the initiative aims to enhance citizen-centric service delivery, foster innovation, and promote excellence across public institutions. The week will serve as a platform for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to present reforms and innovations aimed at improving service quality, accessibility, and responsiveness, aligning with the Constitution of Kenya, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and the Public Service Transformation Agenda.

The program emphasizes five BETA pillars: Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy, Universal Health Coverage, Affordable Housing and Urban Development, Agricultural Transformation and Food Security, and the MSME Economy. Each pillar will focus on specific initiatives, such as digital government services, people-centered healthcare, dignified housing, agricultural support, and enterprise development. Organizers highlighted that customer service excellence is vital for building public trust and ensuring efficient, timely, and accessible services. The week will feature exhibitions, forums, panel discussions, and citizen engagement sessions, with a focus on cross-institutional learning and knowledge sharing.

Key activities include institutional exhibitions, service demonstrations, and digital innovation showcases, alongside BETA-themed forums and media engagement. The program will also incorporate citizen feedback mechanisms to identify challenges and solutions for improving public services. Officials emphasized that the initiative seeks to inspire public servants to exceed expectations in meeting citizen needs, reinforcing the government’s commitment to a responsive and inclusive public sector. The week will conclude with documented service-excellence commitments, monitoring, and post-event evaluations to refine future strategies.

The 2026 NCSW underscores Kenya’s broader transformation agenda, positioning quality public service as central to national development. By aligning with constitutional principles and economic priorities, the initiative aims to create a public sector that is efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused. As the government continues to prioritize service delivery reforms, the week serves as a critical milestone in fostering accountability and innovation across state institutions. “Huduma Bora, Taifa Bora.”
