KCB Bank Expands into Japanese Market

On August 29, 2019, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the TICAD7 conference.

The agreement aims to leverage KCB's office network in East Africa to provide financial solutions to SMBC clients with businesses in the region.

Under the deal, KCB will offer banking services such as banking accounts, cash management, trade finance, and export credit agency to SMBC customers.

The partnership is expected to strengthen SMBC's foothold in Africa, adding to its representative offices in Egypt and South Africa.
