On September 10th, 2019, Kenyan singer CMB Prezzo, born Jackson Makini, announced his candidacy for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election.

Prezzo will contest for the MP seat on a Wiper ticket, unveiled by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon.

The Kibra MP seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth, who succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26th, 2019, while receiving treatment in Nairobi Hospital.

Prezzo will face stiff competition from other candidates, including Bernard Otieno Okoth Imran of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), footballer McDonald Mariga of Jubilee Party, businessman Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress (ANC), and Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi.

The Kibra by-election is scheduled for November 7th, with 118,276 registered voters and 180 polling stations across the constituency’s five wards.
