Embu County's East Africa Pentecostal Church (EAPC) Ugweri Church suffered a significant theft on Wednesday night, with burglars stealing electronic equipment and other items valued at approximately Sh800,000. The break-in occurred around 2 a.m. when intruders shattered a window to access the church premises. The stolen goods included sound system components such as a keyboard, mixer, amplifier, crossover, speakers, microphones, and cables, along with two generators, a 13-kilogramme gas cylinder, and 10 cooking pots, according to Rev. Joseph Njue, the church's overseer. The theft was discovered at 10 a.m. on Thursday when congregants arrived for routine activities, revealing the extent of the damage.

Rev. Njue described the incident as a profound loss, emphasizing that the equipment had been accumulated through years of communal sacrifice and donations.

The church does not employ a night security guard, which may have facilitated the breach,

The pastor noted, adding that the stolen items represented both financial and spiritual setbacks for the congregation. The church has since reported the crime to local authorities, with investigations underway to recover the property. Rev. Njue urged the public, businesses, and second-hand dealers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the stolen goods.

If you encounter these items for sale or have information that could aid in their recovery, please contact the nearest police station or church leadership,

he said. The incident has raised concerns about security measures for religious institutions in the area, with calls for enhanced protection to prevent similar incidents in the future.
