Published on September 10, 2019, gospel singer Papa Dennis has spoken out about his difficult journey to stardom.
Orphaned at a young age, Papa Dennis credits Jimmy Gait with helping him achieve success with their hit song Makekes.
He recalled working at a local candle factory in Umoja for Sh4,000 a month, which was barely enough to sustain him.
However, it was not just financial struggles that Papa Dennis faced. He was also attacked by a gang of 20 in Eastlands, who demanded cash from him and left him for dead.
Despite these challenges, Papa Dennis persevered and went on to release songs with Nigerian superstar Korede Bello and Tanzanian songstress Ray C.
He has been performing in schools lately, spreading the gospel and encouraging students to study hard.
When asked about his personal life, Papa Dennis revealed that he is still single and not in a rush to settle down.
He also expressed his willingness to collaborate with other artists, saying 'Kazi ikikuja tutafanya. Msanii ni kama footballer, ukiitwa uende mahali kucheza mpira utaenda.'
