Deputy President William Ruto's generosity to churches has not gone unnoticed. Atheists in Kenya (AIK) have invited him to their next meeting, seeking a sizeable donation to support their activities.

Since his re-election in 2017, Dr Ruto has donated over Sh200 million to various churches across the country. His willingness to give financial support to religious groupings has been well-documented.

AIK President Harrison Mumia has now invited Dr Ruto to their event at Hotel Metro, Nairobi on September 14, 2019, and asked him to support their society with a donation.

"Indeed, since his re-election in 2017, Dr Ruto has been very generous to churches. As a society, we would like to invite the Deputy President to grace our event and support us by way of donation so that our society can have funds to carry out its activities," Mr Mumia said in a statement.

AIK is a registered society that has faced setbacks due to low membership and financial constraints. Despite this, the organization remains committed to upholding humanistic values on a secular basis.

AIK has called for the separation of religion from schools and government, and has advocated for the abolishment of religious studies. The organization believes that Dr Ruto's support would be a significant step towards promoting secularism in Kenya.
