Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani officially launched the construction of Rophine International University at Madago, Kinondo Ward, in Msambweni Subcounty, marking a significant expansion of the Rophine Field Group of Schools. The institution, which already operates primary, secondary, and international sixth form campuses nationwide, will now focus on innovation, blue economy initiatives, technical training, and career readiness. Achani emphasized the project’s potential to transform the local economy during the groundbreaking ceremony, urging residents to enroll once the university opens to gain skills aligned with modern labor market demands.
The Rophine Group of Schools, founded by Eunice Owiti and led by Group CEO Dr. Boniface Owiti, highlighted the collaboration with Kwale County’s administration as pivotal to its expansion. Owiti praised Governor Achani’s leadership, particularly the Elimu ni Sasa scholarship program, which has supported over 30,000 students annually for basic and higher education. The university’s development follows years of partnerships between the group and the county, aiming to elevate educational standards and create employment opportunities in the region.
