Published on September 10, 2019, the 2019 Davis Cup Africa Group III event is set to take place in Nairobi from Wednesday to Saturday at the Nairobi Club.

Kenya, the second seeds, will face a tricky Group 'B' consisting of Benin, Algeria, and Madagascar. The team, coached by Rosemary Owino, includes Ismael Changawa, Ibrahim Kibet, Kevin Cheruiyot, and Albert Njogu.

Kenya has a history of competing against Benin, having lost to them 2-1 in 2016 but defeating them 2-1 in 2017 and 2-1 in 2018 in promotional playoffs. They will also face Algeria, whom they thrashed 3-0 in 2016, 3-0 in 2018, and 2-1 in 2017.

According to Ismael Changawa, 'The draw is now out. It's a difficult one, but we are ready and will try our best. All opponents in our group fear us, especially me,' he told Nation Sport after the draw on Tuesday afternoon.

The tournament will feature eight teams, including Tunisia, Namibia, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Madagascar, who are new faces in Group III this year. Tunisia, the top seeds, are pre-tournament favourites.

Each team will play against each other three times – two singles matches and one doubles match. The top-two teams will advance to promotional playoffs, while the bottom two sides will be demoted to play in Africa Group IV in 2020.
