Victor Kinuthia's Live Broadcast Sparks Debate ¶
On September 9, 2019, Royal Media journalist Victor Kinuthia faced backlash on social media for his English language skills during a live broadcast of the arrest of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Many Kenyans took to Twitter to express their disappointment, with some calling him a 'githeri media journalist' and questioning his ability to report in English.
However, the situation took a turn when top journalists and media personalities came out to defend Kinuthia, urging him not to give up and to learn from his mistakes.
Journalists such as Joe Ageyo, Victoria Rubadiri, and Yvonne Okwara-Matole took to Twitter to express their support for Kinuthia, stating that everyone makes mistakes and that he has potential.
Even Herman Manyora, a well-known journalist, weighed in, saying that Kinuthia was merely overwhelmed by the situation and that he should not be fired.
As for Kinuthia himself, he took to Facebook to express his gratitude for the support he received, stating that he was encouraged by the messages and calls he received from his colleagues and fans.
