The Rotary E-Club of Naguru, in collaboration with KCCA, NBS, traffic police, and community leaders, launched a road safety campaign at the Kisaasi-Kulambiro Ring Road Junction on September 27, 2026. The initiative, part of Rotary International District 9213’s Enhancing Road Safety in Uganda (ENROSU) program, focused on painting stop lines and distributing safety materials to reinforce compliance with traffic regulations. The campaign, themed “Your safety keeps Kampala moving,” aimed to address the risks faced by pedestrians, particularly children, who navigate hazardous traffic daily. Club representatives emphasized that road traffic injuries remain a preventable crisis, with the intervention seeking to foster discipline and reduce collisions at high-traffic intersections.
Oketta Walter Ogwang, Impact President of the Rotary E-Club of Naguru for Rotary Year 2026/2027, highlighted the initiative’s dual purpose: improving infrastructure and building community cohesion. “When a child walks to school tomorrow on a road we helped make safe, and when they return home safely because of the stop lines we painted, that is the lasting impact we aim to achieve,” Ogwang stated. The club’s efforts align with ENROSU’s goal of mobilizing Rotarians to implement practical solutions for road safety, stressing shared responsibility among motorists, pedestrians, and authorities. Ogwang also noted that collective service strengthens internal club relationships, fostering trust and unity through collaborative action.
The Kisaasi-Kulambiro project is part of ENROSU’s broader strategy to raise awareness and reduce road traffic risks across Uganda. By prioritizing visible interventions like stop-line markings, the initiative seeks to normalize compliance with traffic rules, ensuring smoother flow and safer streets.
