On Monday evening, police in Migori County seized bhang worth Ksh.1.8 million at Masaba area, marking another significant blow to the illicit trade in the county.
According to Migori county police boss Joseph Nthenge, the seizure was the result of a vehicle accident involving a Toyota with registration number KCR 228L, which was ferrying the narcotics.
The vehicle, which was being trailed by police following a tip-off, sped off in panic but got involved in an accident, allowing police to seize the bhang weighing 180kg stashed in seven sacks.
The wreckage has been towed to Migori Police Station as officers continue to search for the suspects.
Nthenge vowed that police will not relent in the fight against the sale of narcotics in the county and urged local residents to continue supporting the police in their efforts.
This is not the first time police in Migori County have made a significant seizure of bhang; in July this year, they nabbed 400 kilograms of bhang valued at Ksh.4 million.
