Located in Kyarwiru Cell, the facility includes VVIP sections, a hybrid pitch, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, and training grounds, among other amenities. While Uganda has already secured automatic qualification for the 2027 AFCON as a host nation, the Cranes are participating in qualifiers to maintain competitive readiness. The match also represents a rare opportunity for Bunyoro residents to witness the national team on home soil, a prospect that has generated widespread enthusiasm.
Local residents and football enthusiasts expressed pride in the event’s significance. Geofrey Tumwesige, a Hoima City resident, called the fixture a ‘new chapter’ in the region’s football history, while Joseph Kirumira emphasized its importance as a chance to experience international football without traveling. Michael Akugizibwe urged supporters to attend in large numbers, describing the match as a ‘golden opportunity’ for Bunyoro. Rogers Ahumuza praised the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for selecting the stadium, highlighting its role in elevating regional football infrastructure.
Security was a top priority, with anti-riot police and Uganda People’s Defence Forces deployed to safeguard the event. Albertine Region Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed the measures, stressing the need to prevent disruptions. Fans were advised to follow security protocols, with strict enforcement against unauthorized movements.
