Dabur Nigeria, the Nigerian subsidiary of Dabur, a global leader in consumer healthcare and wellness, commemorated International Ayurveda Day on 22 and 23 September 2026 in Lagos and Abuja, respectively. The events, hosted at the High Commission of India, featured the launch of Honitus Herbal Lozenges and Rapidex Muscle Pain Relief Spray, expanding the company’s healthcare portfolio in Nigeria. The gatherings, attended by diplomats, wellness sector representatives, and media, highlighted the cultural and business ties between India and Nigeria. Mr. Kannan Chockalingam, Consul General of the Indian Consulate in Lagos, emphasized Ayurveda’s role in promoting holistic health and strengthening bilateral relations. Suresh Karuppiahsamy, Business Head for West Africa at Dabur, reiterated the company’s commitment to integrating Ayurvedic principles into modern wellness practices, aligning with the theme ‘Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow.’

The launch of Honitus and Rapidex underscores Dabur Nigeria’s focus on preventive care and natural remedies. Honitus Herbal Lozenges, containing five herbal ingredients, offer rapid throat relief in Honey and Lemon flavors, while Rapidex Muscle Pain Relief Spray uses Wintergreen and Menthol to address musculoskeletal discomfort. Ogechi Agu, Senior Brand Manager at Dabur Nigeria, noted the products’ availability in local markets and their role in enhancing the company’s presence in West Africa’s healthcare sector. These additions complement Dabur’s existing offerings, including Dabur Herbal Toothpaste and Odomos mosquito repellent, reinforcing its position in Nigeria’s growing wellness market.

Ayurveda, rooted in balance and natural solutions, continues to influence global healthcare innovation. The event highlighted its relevance in addressing modern wellness challenges, with Dabur Nigeria positioning itself as a key player in promoting traditional knowledge. The collaboration with the Indian High Commission also underscored the cultural exchange between the two nations, fostering mutual understanding and economic partnerships. As Ayurveda gains traction in Nigeria, the launch of these products reflects a strategic effort to meet consumer demand for accessible, heritage-inspired health solutions.

The initiative aligns with broader regional goals, including leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to enhance market access. However, experts like Mene have called for improved delivery infrastructure to fully realize AfCFTA’s potential. Meanwhile, cybersecurity concerns persist, with data breaches costing organizations an average of $5 million per incident, according to tech experts. These challenges highlight the need for integrated approaches to economic growth and digital security, as Nigeria navigates its evolving business landscape.
