A passenger died after jumping from a moving commercial bus that crashed into a median pole in Lagos State, officials confirmed. The incident occurred at Ogunlana Junction, inward Ojuelegba, on Sunday, involving a Volkswagen bus with registration number LND 130 XR. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the driver was allegedly driving recklessly and may have been under the influence of alcohol, prompting erratic behavior that led to the accident.
The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, stated that a male passenger attempted to escape the bus while it was in motion, sustaining severe injuries upon impact with the ground. LASTMA officials secured the scene, managed traffic, and removed the damaged bus, while police and emergency personnel handled the aftermath.
