On September 10, 2019, a bizarre incident shook the community in Busia, Kenya, as two middle-aged couples engaged in a shocking spousal exchange.

The couples, who were married to each other, had been embroiled in a bitter dispute over allegations of infidelity.

Lilian Weta, 28, was married to Kelvin Barasa, but he brought a new woman, Millicent Auma, into their home, claiming she was his cousin from Mombasa.

However, when Lilian questioned Kelvin about the woman, he became upset and told her that Millicent was his new wife, and she should leave or face physical harm.

Speaking to a local TV station, Lilian recounted the incident, saying, 'He came back home and told me he had brought a cousin from Mombasa, when I questioned him when the cousin came back he got upset. Immediately I saw a woman wearing my husband’s jacket.'

When asked what happened next, Lilian said, 'He then told me that moving forward she was the new wife adding that I should leave or else he would stab me.'

Kelvin Barasa, however, had a different story to tell. He claimed that he met Millicent on the road, seduced her, and she accepted. He also stated, 'I do not miss my wife and I do not care what she does. It was an exchange.'

According to Lilian, her husband told her that she was free to date Millicent’s husband, Christopher Abwire, 34. On hearing this, Lilian called her brother for advice, who encouraged her to go ahead and marry Christopher.

Speaking about the incident, Christopher said, 'She told me she had been chased away and my wife had left me so we decided let the cheaters end together and Lilian and I together. Since Lilian came into my life, My thoughts are settled, I eat in good time, sleep in good time and I get everything I want.'

The couples, who have four and two children respectively, have now exchanged spouses, leaving many in the community stunned and questioning the morality of their actions.
