On August 30, a disturbing incident occurred at a Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) event at York Hall, leaving a referee with a career-ending injury.
UK wrestler Josh Bodom was involved in the altercation, which was captured on video footage shared on Twitter.
According to the footage, Bodom struck referee Aaren Wilde with his knee at the end of the match, and then his tag-team partner, Sha Samuels, slammed Wilde to the mat.
Wilde has since spoken out about the incident, stating that he has been forced to put his career on hold due to the injuries.
"I was grabbed and slammed to the mat by Sha and then something happened on the outside," Wilde said. "I honestly don't know what, that part was a blur."
Wilde added that he has sustained a neck and shoulder injury that means he is no longer able to referee, describing it as "much more serious than originally thought".
RevPro released a statement confirming that Bodom's actions would not be tolerated, and the tag-team had been stripped of their Undisputed British Tag Team Championships immediately.
Sha Samuels has since addressed the incident on Twitter, stating that a mistake happened during the match and that he had scooped slammed the referee as safely as possible.
