Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam TV and Salam Charity, led a team to inspect the venue for the Eastern Region Finals of the 7th Edition of Omumanyi wa Salam TV, set for October 3, 2026, at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus in Mbale. The visit confirmed that event preparations are progressing as planned. Kaliisa also conducted a courtesy visit to Nakaloke Centre Mosque, a project initiated by Salam TV, where he was received by Imam Sheikh Salman Faris and congregants. During the tour, Kaliisa praised contributors to the mosque’s construction and highlighted its significance as a community hub.
The mosque, estimated to cost Shs5 billion, requires approximately Shs2 billion to complete its remaining works, according to Kaliisa. He urged nationwide support to finalize the project, which he described as one of Uganda’s largest mosques. The facility will include shops, offices, training centers, and conference halls, serving both worshippers and the broader community. Kaliisa symbolically presented an Omumanyi wa Salam TV guidebook to the mosque’s chairperson and invited congregants to attend the Eastern Region Finals, encouraging the mosque to identify participants for the competition.
Sheikh Salman Faris thanked Kaliisa for the visit and appealed for continued backing from Salam Charity, well-wishers, and the public to complete the mosque’s construction. He noted the project has entered its final phase, emphasizing its role as a vital infrastructure development for Mbale. Kaliisa’s visit underscored Salam TV’s dual focus on media events and community-driven initiatives, aligning the competition with broader social objectives.
The Eastern Region Finals, part of the 7th Edition of Omumanyi wa Salam TV, will feature local talent in a platform that combines cultural celebration with community engagement. The mosque’s completion, if achieved, will further solidify Salam TV’s legacy as a promoter of both entertainment and civic development in eastern Uganda.
