Industrial & Medical Gases Nigeria Plc (IMG) is broadening its portfolio of specialized gas solutions as demand surges across Nigeria’s manufacturing, healthcare, food processing, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors, according to acting managing director Abayomi Oke. The company’s offerings include Dry Ice, High-Purity (HP) Propane, Helium, Liquid Nitrogen (LIN), and Argon, each designed for critical applications such as temperature control, industrial heating, preservation, and process protection. Oke emphasized that IMG’s strategy now prioritizes delivering customized solutions over mere gas supply, stating, “Our focus is not simply on supplying gases, but on providing reliable solutions that enable our customers to maintain their processes, protect their products, and improve operational efficiency.”
Dry Ice, which operates at approximately -78.5°C, is utilized for cold-chain transportation and preservation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, healthcare products, and food, as well as specialized cleaning. HP Propane provides consistent heat for industrial heating and metal processing, while Helium supports leak detection and scientific applications. Liquid Nitrogen, at -196°C, offers ultra-low-temperature cooling for food processing, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, with its rapid temperature reduction critical for preservation. Argon, used in welding and metal fabrication, creates an inert environment to prevent atmospheric contamination, ensuring weld quality in industrial processes. Oke highlighted that the expanding applications of these gases reflect their growing role in productivity, quality control, and operational continuity across sectors.
An industry analyst noted that IMG’s expanded product mix could enhance earnings by diversifying its customer base and creating recurring revenue streams. “Products serving critical production, healthcare, and preservation needs can support revenue diversification and capacity utilization,” the analyst said, adding that profitability will depend on factors like volumes, pricing, production costs, and operational efficiency. The analyst also underscored the importance of specialized gases in sectors where dependable thermal performance and precision are essential for production and testing processes.
