Published on September 10, 2019, a season 17 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians revealed a shocking discovery: Kourtney Kardashian had a bald spot on the top of her head.
Kim Kardashian West, 38, was the first to notice the bald spot, telling Kourtney, “Kourtney, you have a really big spot on the top of your head. Look down, Kourtney. Oh my god, I’m afraid for your life. Have you seen that?”
Kourtney blamed the bald spot on a tight ponytail she had worn for an event in February, saying, “It’s a hole in my head. I swear it’s from my ponytail, it was so tight that I had a bump on my head like this.”
Despite Kim’s urging to seek medical treatment, Kourtney opted for platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy instead.
PRP therapy involves injecting platelet-rich plasma, derived from the patient’s own blood, into the hair follicles. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, this procedure originated in Europe over a decade ago.
Dr. Jason Diamond administered Kourtney’s treatment, recommending two to three series of injections, once a month for three months. Kourtney underwent the procedure, hoping to regrow her hair.
