On Monday, four armed robbers targeted the Gituto coffee factory in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, making off with 20 bags of coffee worth Ksh.400,000.

According to Jamleck Kariuki, Chairman of the Kanjuu Cooperative Society and head of an affiliated factory, the robbers tied up two security guards before entering the factory.

The two guards, along with two factory managers and a casual worker, are currently being held at Kianyaga Police Station for questioning.

Patrick Muriuki, the society treasurer, has called for a thorough investigation into the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Investigations have begun, and Gichugu OCPD Anthony Wanjuu Mbogo has stated that police officers will now be stationed at factories during the packaging period following a security meeting with farmers.
