At 80 years old, Tina Turner has come a long way from her tumultuous past. In a 2019 interview, she reflected on her life with Ike Turner, recalling the times he screamed at her for changing the towels in the bathroom and the day he remodeled her home in his own style without her consent.

Thirty years later, Turner's life has taken a dramatic turn. She now resides in the Chateau Algonquin, a luxurious villa in the south of France, where she is in total control of her surroundings. However, she does not own the chateau, and her landlord, Kaspar, lives in her attic and controls the boathouse.

During a tour of the grounds, Turner gazed wistfully at the boathouse, expressing her desire to decorate it. Her words were a testament to her resilience and determination to create a life she truly desires.

'I just kept going'

Tina Turner has become an icon, symbolizing sex appeal, resilience, and empowerment. However, she has distanced herself from these labels, stating that she was never trying to be sexy onstage and that the idea of connecting her life to the feminist movement feels alien to her.

Despite her tough past, Turner has chosen to focus on her life's work, saying, 'I identify only with my life.' She has built an almost invincible persona, but it's just a persona, and she doesn't necessarily want to be seen as a 'strong' person.

When asked about her journey, Turner revealed that she had a 'terrible life' but chose to 'just keep going.' Her determination and perseverance have led her to where she is today, surrounded by luxury and control.
