Nakuru Golfer Luther Kamau Wins CIC Tournament

On September 9, 2019, Luther Kamau, a leading golfer at Nakuru golf club, fired a level par 39 points playing off handicap to win the overall prize in the CIC Insurance Group tournament at the par 73 Nakuru Golf Club course.

Despite starting the day with two successive bogeys at the first and second holes, Kamau picked up a triple bogey at the par four-fifth hole, then birdied the sixth and seventh to level his score.

He then dropped a shot at the ninth and quickly at the 11th hole, but made a comeback with birdies at the 13th and 14th, and at the 16th and 17th to claim the day's top title.

Other winners included Peter Kikwai, who took the men's first prize with 37 points, beating youngster Wasim Ali on countback, and Miriam Wanjiku, who won the ladies section with 37 points, beating Kuljit Sahota on countback.

Veteran golfer Njuguna Njioka won the gross title on 32 points, while Roy Bwoma was the best guest with 39 points.

Joseph Kamiri, the CIC Insurance Group General Manager, posted the day's best score with 42 points, including eight pars and one birdie, to claim the staff prize.
