On September 9, 2019, British Airways informed its customers not to turn up at airports as their pilots embarked on a two-day strike, marking the biggest in the airline's history.

The strike, which was sparked by a dispute over pay, has led to the cancellation of over 1500 flights, causing significant disruption to hundreds of thousands of customers.

According to reports, the disruption will also result in millions of dollars of lost revenue for the airline.

The British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) had rejected a proposed 11.5% pay increase over three years in July, leading to the strike.

While both British Airways and BALPA are confident that the impasse will be resolved soon, the pilots will again walk out on September 27th if the row remains unresolved.
