Published on September 9, 2019, five Ethiopians were found guilty of being in Kenya illegally and sentenced to two months in jail by an Isiolo court.

The court heard that the Ethiopians were intercepted by army officers at Ngaremara area on the Isiolo – Marsabit road while heading to Nairobi on Saturday at around 11pm.

Without proper documentation, the foreigners were arrested and taken to Isiolo Police Station, where their vehicle was also impounded.

Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai ruled that the issue of foreigners entering Kenya without proper documents has become common in Isiolo, and ordered the repatriation of the Ethiopians after serving their sentence.
