On Sunday evening, a three-year-old boy was tragically shot dead by a stray bullet in Maziwa area, Kasarani, Nairobi. The incident occurred while the boy was in his home.

According to eyewitnesses, the officers involved in the shooting claimed they were firing into the air to disperse a mob that had turned on them. The officers had been attempting to effect an arrest in the area when the mob began chasing them.

Nairobi Police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

Separately, a group of Multi-Media University students blocked Magadi Road on Monday morning to protest the killing of a fellow student in a hit-and-run incident. The students accused public service vehicle operators of being reckless and overcharging passengers.

Police used teargas canisters to disperse the students, who had blocked the busy road for hours, disrupting traffic flow.

The hit-and-run incident, which occurred last week, is currently under investigation. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and actively searching for the vehicle involved.
