On September 9, 2019, a press conference in Murang'a town turned chaotic as supporters of MPs Maina Kamanda and Ndindi Nyoro clashed.
The supporters of Kamanda, led by MCAs Isaac Kamote and Charles Mwangi, blamed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro for the chaos at the fundraiser at Gitui Catholic Church.
According to Kamote, Nyoro had said he would not allow people from Nairobi, led by Kamanda, to take control of his Kiharu constituency.
However, Nyoro's supporters, including Joseph Ndung'u and Kamau Mwangi, defended their leader, saying he had every right to introduce politicians and other leaders at the event.
Despite being heckled and booed by the rival team, Mwangi stood his ground and defended Nyoro, saying Kamanda should respect him as a youthful politician.
Meanwhile, Murang'a Catholic Bishop James Maria Wainaina had earlier canceled all church functions where politicians were invited, citing the recent incident at Gitui Parish.
