As I settled into my life on Lamu, I found myself drawn to the island's tranquil atmosphere and the promise of a yoga festival that would change my perspective forever.

Having spent a month in the remote Kiwayu Island, I had reached a state of optimal physical fitness, but I was eager to explore the mental and spiritual benefits of yoga.

It was during this time that I met fellow yogis who invited me to join their classes, and I was struck by their passion for meditation and its potential to transform lives.

"People just don't listen to their bodies until they feel really sick and need to go see a doctor," one participant shared, highlighting the importance of tuning in to our inner selves.

My first session was a 6:00 am power yoga class by the beach, where I felt the collective energy of the group flowing from the sun to the sea.

As we flowed through the poses, I felt a sense of connection with my fellow practitioners, and I knew that I had found something special.

The yoga festival was more than just a physical practice – it was a journey of self-discovery, community building, and spiritual growth.

From the magical sunset sail to the communal Swahili dinner, every moment was an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and create lifelong friendships.

So mark your calendars for March 2020, and get ready to experience the transformative power of yoga and meditation at Lamu's yoga festival.

Even if you can't make it to the festival, Lamu offers a range of yoga and wellness options, including Banana House & Wellness Center and Fatuma's Tower.
