Kenya's national team in the World Martial Arts Mastership Tong Il Moo Do championship has returned home after a successful outing in South Korea.
On August 21, President Uhuru Kenyatta received the team at State House, Nairobi, in a gesture of appreciation for their outstanding performance.
The team of 15 players, led by Kenya Tong Il Moo Do Federation President Clarence Mwakio, clinched the second position out of 19 countries that participated in the event.
Kenya's performance was a significant improvement from the 2016 event, where they won one gold, two silver, and five bronze medals.
According to Mwakio, the team will now shift its focus to the Mombasa Open championship in December, where they will be defending the overall title.
World Tong Il Moo Do Federation President Join Ho Seuk praised Kenya as one of the emerging nations in the sport, saying, 'I had a dream 40 years ago when I incepted the sport, and this is a dream come true.'
