On September 8, 2019, Moses Muthoki made history at the Mountain Classic golf day, held at Nanyuki Sports Club, by claiming the top prize with a super score of 42 stableford points.

Playing off a handicap of 13, Muthoki posted an impressive score, comprised of 24 stableford points from the outward nine and 18 stableford points from the back nine.

The Mountain Classic Golf day was presented by Embu County Golfers, now in its 11th year, which consists of golfers from Embu County who are 'exiled' in Kiambu Golf Club due to the lack of a golf course in their home county.

Patron of Embu County golfers, Martin Nyaga, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to interact with fellow golfers and grow the sport of golf, promoting national cohesion.

Muthoki's winning scorecard featured three birdies on the par-4 first, par-4 13th, and par-4 14th holes, as well as pars on the par-4 second, par-3 third, par-4 fourth, and the course's toughest hole, a par-5 seventh dog-leg right.

His clubmate Richard Jones settled for second place with 41 stableford points, while James Warui took third place with 39 stableford points.

Visiting golfer Hildah Muhia won the ladies' gong with a score of 34 stableford points, and 'Sir' Joe Wainaina took the guest prize with 33 stableford points.
