Published on September 8, 2019, a devastating bus accident in Morocco's southeast left 11 people dead and 27 injured.

A bus carrying passengers was overturned by floodwaters on a bridge in El Khank, prompting rescue crews to evacuate the survivors, including several injured individuals.

The evacuees were transferred to a hospital in Errachidia for medical attention, while search operations continued to locate any potential victims.

Recent storms have battered Morocco, with a flood in August killing eight people in the southern region of Taroudant and a landslide in July claiming 15 lives south of Marrakesh.

Floods are a recurring issue in Morocco, with a 2014 disaster resulting in around 50 fatalities and significant damage.

A 2015 study highlighted multiple failures in infrastructure maintenance, prevention, warning, and emergency management as contributing factors to the country's flood-related tragedies.
