Kenya's Harambee Stars Hold Uganda to a 1-1 Draw ¶
On September 8, 2019, Kenya's Harambee Stars faced off against Uganda's Cranes in a friendly match at the Kasarani Stadium. The match began with Uganda making a blistering start, peppering the Kenyan goal-mouth with a flurry of attacks.
Uganda's Emmanuel Okwi scored the opening goal in the 21st minute after some brilliant work from Luwagga Kizito. However, Kenya's Patrick Matasi spectacularly saved Okwi's curler, flying sharply to his left and punching it out for a corner.
Kenya's Francis Kimanzi gave three players their full debuts, including Collins Agade, who was subbed off after only 40 minutes. Kimanzi elected to bring Whyvonne Isuza in his place, seeking more incision in the final third.
Uganda held their advantage into the break, but it was wiped out moments after the restart with Muguna ghosting into the box and stretching to guide Ayub Timbe's cross into the back of Charles Lukwago's net.
Kenya's momentum tilted in their favour after that equalizer, and Michael Olunga should have made it 2-1 for Kenya but Lukwago palmed his volleyed effort away and a rebound was hacked away.
Substitute Boniface Muchiri almost made his debut memorable when he beat John Revita in the right wing, shifted the ball onto his left foot before attempting a placed shot into the far post but Lukwago tipped it away.
