On a chilly morning, Robert Ndiwa braved the elements to claim the top spot in the Embu Red Cross Half Marathon at Embu Stadium on September 8, 2019.

Ndiwa, who is preparing for the Berlin half marathon, ran neck-and-neck with Jimna Kariuki before pulling ahead with 200 meters to go, finishing in 1:13:15.

Jimna Kariuki trailed closely behind in 1:13:17, while Peter Njoroge took third place with a time of 1:14:03.

Meanwhile, Judith Sum dominated the women's race, crossing the finish line in 1:26:05, ahead of Alice Kamunya and Cynthia Kosgey.

Ndiwa expressed confidence in his ability to set a good time in the upcoming Berlin marathon, while Sum credited her win to the challenging course and the high altitude of Embu.

"It was a tough course especially on the rough road. I knew I would win after emerging from the final hilly side on the lead," Sum said.
