On September 8, 2019, Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi's tenure got off to a disappointing start as his team was held to a 1-1 draw by Uganda Cranes at Kasarani.

The match, dubbed the Migingo derby, saw Kimanzi name a relatively strong side despite missing key players like Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Japan-based striker Michael Olunga was handed the captain's armband, with Kennedy Muguna and Ayub Timbe leading the attack.

However, the new-look Stars failed to impress, with Uganda dominating the opening exchanges of the friendly clash.
