Embu's Cherono Wins Red Cross Half Marathon

On Sunday, the Red Cross half marathon took place in Kenya, with Judith Cherono from Embu County emerging as the winner. She clocked an impressive 1hr 26.05 secs to claim the title.

Cherono's victory was closely followed by Alice Kamunya, who finished in 1hr 26 mins and 36 secs, while Cynthia Kosgei took the third spot with a time of 1hr 28 mins and 38 secs.

Meanwhile, Robert Ndiwa won the men's category, completing the race in 1hr 13 mins and 15 secs. He was followed by Jimna Kariuki and Peter Njoroge, who finished in 1hr 13mins and 17 secs and 1hr 14mins and 31 secs respectively.

Additionally, Charles Kamau won the 10km race, finishing in 33mins 33 secs. He was followed by Pius Karanja and Peter Kamau, who completed the race in 33 mins 55 seconds and 34 mins and 12 secs respectively.

The event aimed to raise funds for physically challenged children at the Jomo Kenyatta children's home in Embu.
