Published on September 8, 2019, Baringo County Senator Gideon Moi has accused leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto of being a stumbling block in the fight against graft in Kenya.
Speaking during his installation as a Sabaot elder at Kapsokwony in Mount Elgon, Senator Moi urged all leaders to put aside their 2022 campaigns and help President Uhuru Kenyatta tackle corruption.
Corruption, according to Senator Moi, remains a major cause of poverty in Kenya.
"We are currently on a very delicate journey and we must support the president…in 2022 let God’s will be done, for now let us work for Kenyans," said Senator Moi.
He also called on politicians to sell their policies in a respectful manner, saying there was no need for threats and back-and-forth.
Former Bomet governor and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) leader Isaac Ruto supported the planned phase two Mau forest evictions but urged the government to ensure the process was humane.
Isaac Ruto also called for the families evicted from the Mau forest to be resettled.
