On September 8, 2019, a heated dispute erupted at Gatui Catholic Church in Muranga, pitting Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro against Maina Kamanda, a Kieleweke MP.

The confrontation occurred during a fundraiser attended by about 20 members of Parliament allied to the Kieleweke group.

Nyoro, a member of the Tanga Tanga faction, insisted that he had not been invited to the event and therefore could not allow it to proceed.

"I am the MP and I am the only one who can invite people to functions in this constituency," Nyoro said, adding that he respected Kamanda as a father and elder but could not allow him to "rule Kiharu Constituency".

The church service was paralyzed as Nyoro and Kamanda engaged in a shouting match, with Nyoro refusing to allow the event to continue.

Among those present during the fracas were Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.
