September 7, 2019, marked a significant day for Moses Kuria, a Jubilee Party MP from Gatundu South, as he suffered a political blow after his candidate, Benson Musungu, lost in the Kibra by-election.

Despite being a Jubilee Party MP and a prominent figure from the Mount Kenya region, Kuria decided to support Musungu in the Kibra by-election.

On September 6, 2019, Kuria took time off to campaign for his candidate in Kibra, expressing his support for Musungu's agenda.

"It has been a great day today as I went out to campaign for my friend Benson Musungu and sell his policies to the people of Kibra, which were the same policies that my friend Ken Okoth was pursuing," Kuria wrote later.

However, by the time the votes were counted on September 7, 2019, Imran Okoth had emerged as the winner, with Kuria's candidate, Benson Musungu, failing to secure even a single vote.

With this loss, Kuria has announced his intention to run for the presidency in 2022, which may force him to reassess his strategies given the intense competition among politicians to secure votes.

As a result, the ODM party is likely to lead the campaign for Okoth, with the Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga, ANC's Eliud Owalo, and independent candidates also vying for the seat.
