On September 7, 2019, Okoth Bernard Otieno, also known as Imran, secured the ODM nomination ticket for the Kibra by-election, which is scheduled to take place on November 7.

Imran received 4,382 votes, surpassing the other nine aspirants who were vying for the ODM party ticket during the nomination exercise.

Returning Officer Dr. Julius Oremo issued Imran with a provisional certificate, confirming his victory.

Other notable candidates included Peter Orero, who garnered 1,218 votes, and John Milla Otieno, who came in third with 966 votes.
