On September 6, 2019, at the SOAR Africa Leadership and Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, American televangelist TD Jakes expressed admiration for Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) for their spirited defense of their country.
Speaking at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Jakes commended KOT for their tenacity and encouraged them to redirect their energy towards promoting Kenya's tourism and products.
“KOT has taught me the hard way. I have great respect for Kenyans on Twitter and the way they defend themselves to the world,” Jakes said.
He urged KOT to use their energy to market what's good in Kenya, specifically its tourism and products.
It's worth noting that Jakes' comments come after a 2013 incident where Kenyans online fiercely criticized him for claiming credit for Kenya's water and a single hospital, which he attributed to his ministry's efforts.
