Published on September 7, 2019, two Administration Police officers linked to the Ksh. 72 million heist in Nairobi West have been arrested.

Chris Ayenda Machogu, one of the suspects, was arrested in Kisii and police recovered Ksh. 4 million from him.

He reportedly led detectives to his accomplice, Vincent Wycliff Owuor, in Kendu Bay, where Ksh. 3 million and a stolen Subaru Forester were found.

The two AP officers are believed to be among the thugs who orchestrated the heist at the Standard Chartered Bank ATM on Thursday morning.

Three men, posing as police officers, escorted G4S personnel who were transferring cash to the ATM. They turned on the G4S team after receiving a password from their headquarters to open the machine.

The suspects escaped with cash boxes and sacks of money from different banks, leaving empty boxes in Thogoto Forest, Kiambu, the next day.

Six G4S employees were arrested and arraigned on Friday, and they are currently in custody at Langata Police Station for 7 days to allow police to complete investigations.

Three other suspects were arrested on Saturday morning, and two vehicles, believed to have been used in the heist, were recovered at a garage in Kikuyu Town.
