Kisumu Speaker Onyango Oloo Surrenders to Police in Mombasa

On September 7, 2019, Kisumu Speaker Onyango Oloo presented himself at the Mombasa Police Station, accompanied by several members of the Kisumu County Assembly.

He had surrendered to police a day after an arrest warrant was issued over the inflated Lake Basin mall tender.

According to the Director of Public Prosecution, Oloo is among more than 30 suspects facing fraud-related charges.

The DPP alleged that there was collusion between some Board members and M/s Erdemann Properties Limited, with the directors bribing the chairman of the Board, George Onyango Oloo, to the tune of Ksh.17 million.

Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri and a Chinese contractor, Zhang Jing, were arrested on Friday evening in Nairobi, facing 11 charges including conspiracy to defraud and corruptly receiving and giving benefits.
