Published on September 7, 2019, detectives in Kenya have made significant progress in the investigation of a Sh72 million heist in Nairobi West.
Two police officers, Constables Chris Ayienda and Vincent Owuor, were arrested in Kisii and Kendu Bay, respectively, and a total of Sh7 million was recovered.
According to the DCI, the two officers were planning to travel to Uganda with the stolen money, which was used to purchase a brand new Subaru Forester car.
Further investigation led detectives to Owuor's house in Kendu Bay, where they found the Subaru Forester and an additional Sh3 million.
Three more suspects were arrested on Friday in connection with the heist, after a getaway vehicle used in the robbery was found in their garage.
The vehicle, a Toyota Noah, was being re-painted at the time of its recovery.
Thirteen empty cash boxes were also found in Thogoto Forest, Kikuyu, on Friday morning.
