Published on September 7, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again failed to name a deputy governor, despite making a promise to do so on Thursday.

As the ongoing investigation into graft at City Hall continues, Sonko had vowed to step aside if found culpable, but his words have proven empty.

Since Polycarp Igathe resigned as deputy governor in January 2018, Nairobi County has been without a deputy, and Sonko's failure to name a replacement has raised eyebrows.

Earlier this year, Sonko had shortlisted four women as potential candidates for the position, but it appears he has yet to make a decision.
