On September 6, 2019, a daring heist occurred in Nairobi West, where robbers posing as police officers offloaded Sh72 million to a Toyota Noah.

The G4S team, which had collected the cash from the security company's headquarters on Witu Road at around 6 am, was tricked by the impostors.

The money was destined for several ATMs in the city belonging to different banks.

On September 6, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery.

Hours after recovering 13 empty cash boxes and bags in Thogoto Forest, Kiambu, the three were apprehended in Kiambu County.

Other items recovered in Thogoto Forest included a mobile phone, a SIM card with serial number 89254021104175661927, and a G4S jacket.

Two vehicles believed to have been used in the robbery, Toyota Noah vehicles, were also recovered by detectives.

The vehicles had allegedly been repainted to make it impossible for police officers to trace them.

On September 6, 2019, six G4S personnel were arraigned in court over links to the daring heist.

The court allowed police to detain them for seven days at Lang'ata Police Station pending the conclusion of investigations into the crime.
